gloom

gloom as in dark.....it was pitch black out the kitchen window when I started fixing breakfast at 7.....'cause of heavy clouds I suppose.....and the fact that the sun didn't rise until 7:21 today?  It was bright with the light from the full moon when I looked out the bathroom window some time in the middle of the night....stormy Monday predicted, and Tuesday too.....was a brief splatter of rain while I was reading the Sunday paper earlier on.....last night there were tornado warnings a couple of counties over.....Spartanburg and Union.....yesterday here it was on and off rain most of the day....Panthers and Falcons at 1 this afternoon.....that Bulldog game yesterday was a good one, watched all of that....Blue Hose won their game.....finished off the tortilla soup yesterday, as a rainy day lunch.....library day tomorrow, and the 1st of October......can do grilled spam and swiss on rye for lunch, and ham and eggs with hash browns and toast for the Sunday breakfast-for-supper.....I was ticked off because France 24 news stopped playing on the iPad app.....but last night it showed up again on Roku Live Station where it was when I first started watching it.....I don't know what governs these things....license agreements or something......

dawn obscured by clouds

and it's been raining lightly since just after breakfast, so I drove over to get today's paper....on the radar it looks like Clinton is in the middle of a west to east flow of wet weather that might keep things damp today......so I guess I could do some housework instead of walking or doing yardwork....vacuum and maybe use some Old English on furniture.....I can have ham and mac n cheese with green beans for supper.....and then one day I can dice up some ham and cook it with a box of red beans and rice.....that makes enough for two days for me.....the state has started taxing the Netflix bill it seems.....$8.47 showed up on my checking account instead of $7.99.....the washing machine was acting up yesterday....it stopped in mid cycle full of dirty water.....but fiddling with the knob I found out that the permanent press cycle is still working.....it's just that the heavy duty cycle I have been using seems to have worn out at the detente on the dial where the pump should start....no reason to use heavy duty really anyway.....so now everything is permanent press, even socks and boxer shorts.....Clinton lost, Laurens won Friday night football.....this damp morning has me feeling deflated, walking usually pumps me up a bit .....

Overcast

Been staying 70 in the house day and night....was 61 at daybreak outside, 72 now....I went out and looked where the shrubbery could use some trimming....but decided to just go for a walk instead....yardwork can always be done another day....I did start a load of laundry....there's enough tortilla soup left for a lunch, maybe today's.....can have tacos tonight....I guess it's high school homecoming game here tonight, and the first game that counts in conference....against some school called Broome, that I've never heard of before.....the guys are working on the church grounds across the street, with riding mowers and weed eaters.....otherwise all is quiet....except when a train goes by, like right now too.....so what's on the agenda is lunch and then a nap sometime probably.....and put the clouthes in the dryer and later get them out and put away....it's a complicated life....

thursday morning fog

59F at sunrise, should get up around 80 again by the afternoon.....fog has burned off now, bright and calm outside....went ahead and just heated up tortilla soup last night, so a ham platter of some sort for this evening maybe....the guacamole will keep another day for chicken tacos on Friday.....no rain expected 'til Monday, then a 50% chance.....staying 70 in the house this week mostly, haven't had to run heat, AC, or fans for a while now....energy savings.....it's getting to the time where the weeds don't grow up so quick, so the mower can stay in the shed longer.....acorns are on the sidewalks in places....nice Fall walking weather.....not this weekend but the next is the thing over in Laurens on the Square, the BBQ cook-off and annual festival.....with the tractor parade on Saturday morning.....the world's largest pin-ball machine returns for the third year....I like the hot-rod cruise-in.....and the ribs.....and then in  two or three weeks is the Clinton Fall Festival, where my favorite thing is the stand with hash-dogs.....well, that isn't actually on their menu, but they will make it for you.....

Ham slice, sweet tater, mac n cheese

That's one possible supper....I've still got lots of the Mexican menu to eat up....tacos and tortilla soup....so all I bought for meat this week was a ham slice.....can use that in red beans and rice too, diced up.....they say it might get into the low 80s today, still pleasant walking weather this morning....went fairly early grocery shopping, when it's not crowded at all....got a sea story on kindle to read, a free book....those can be pretty strange....this one is fun so far....I got another loaf of rye bread.....got a dozen eggs....ham and eggs and grits could be a meal sometime.....with grape jelly on toast.....

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

lube and oil, car wash

at the Oil Depot....Tuesday is senior day, so $10 off.....and you get a $5 coupon for the laser wash.....whole thing took and hour and twenty minutes, there were two cars in front of me....but now the Jeep looks cleaner, and the fluids are topped off, etc....fine walking weather again this morning, crisp enough to get your blood pumping some without all the summertime sweating.....48F at sunrise.....so pretty soon I'll end up closing the windows at night .....the tortilla soup turned out terrific, very tasty and filling....plenty left.....probably have chicken tacos tonight, lots of shredded chicken left too.....

Monday, September 24, 2012

ten degrees cooler

it was 60 in the kitchen at breakfast, 65% humidity.....those figures have been 70 and 70 for roughly the last three months.....I have a kitchen clock I got for three dollars that has time, temp, humidity.....analog style.....52F outside with a chilly wind when I went for the paper....so I got a flannel shirt out of the closet for that....I like the freshness of the lower humidity.....it's still high compared to California inland valleys where it was under 10% lots of the time.....well, some times.....things looked nice in San Diego when the game was on TV.....100 on the field?  The weather looked good, not the Chargers.....so maybe after lunch I'll start the tortilla soup simmering, just leave it on the stove real low all afternoon....that should do it.....had tacos for lunch yesterday, so today can be a sandwich of some sort....I slept 30 or 40 minutes longer than usual I think, it was getting light when I woke up.....maybe the crisp night air helped with that....in a month or so we set the clocks so the sun comes up sooner?

Sunday, September 23, 2012

use style 10 filters and belts

says that right on the front of the vacuum cleaner.....so this time I knew which one to get at Walmart....you can wash the filters, but the last time I did that the outer filter tore.....it lasted four years, and only cost six bucks to replace, so I guess that isn't so bad.....while I was over there I got the things that are cheap .....mouth wash, Max Freeze, tropical trail mix, club soda.....a small carton of chicken broth and a can of El Pato Salsa de Chile Fresco.....for the tortilla soup tomorrow.....today I'll just nuke leftover chow mien.....Falcons at Chargers at 4 this afternoon, should be interesting.....absolutely beautiful Fall morning down home, nothing be finer, than to be in Caroliner.....Clemson was ahead when I checked the halftime score before I went to bed last night.....but they ended up getting beat....might have carnitas tacos for lunch....breakfast was rye french toast and fried spam, OJ and french roast black.....guess I'll put the new filter in and give the place a once over......

Shredded chicken breasts

Been in the crock pot for a long time now, looking good....big time aroma in the house making me hungry.....Fall started this morning at 10:49 EDT.....I just looked that up 'cause I was wondering.....I think it said morning anyway.....maybe I can find the Blue Hose score somewhere soon.....and I'll check in a bit to see if the Gamecocks are really on the station I get.....I'm going to put some avocado chunks in the tortilla soup when I make it Sunday or Monday.....that's what they did at this place in Escondido with famous soup.....beautiful day out....looks like an afternoon wedding going on at the church across the street....I'm guessing that because it looks like bridesmaids and groomsmen in costume.....

warmer than yesterday

is the prediction.....but still low to middle 80s, nothing too hot for the beginning of Fall....colder air moves down early in the coming week, in the 50s at night.....made enough chicken chow mien yesterday for another meal sometime.....think I'll put the two remaining chicken breasts in the crock pot with a jar of salsa.....make chicken tacos tonight, and then maybe tomorrow go to Walmart for a few things I need and also get a can of enchilada sauce and a can of chicken broth....I have about half a bag of tortilla chips to use up.....so I'll make tortilla soup too with all that....channel 7 has the Gamecocks in the afternoon, and I can pick that up as a simulcast at 62.2.....in clear weather .....I won't get the Clemson on ABC, but it's on too late at night anyway....for me to watch it 'til the end.....maybe a cold pork and avocado sandwich for lunch today.....should be pleasant walking over through downtown in a few minutes, my usual Saturday morning walk.....sometimes you can find a yard sale on a Saturday morning.....but I don't have any money in my wallet anyway, for anything more than a dollar.....

Friday, September 21, 2012

was shady in the back yard

so I ran the mower over those weeds, or lawn, or whatever....got done by 9:30.....another coolish day so far, not too sweaty.....the carnitas tacos were good, and there's leftovers for another supper....or maybe two lunches.....don't know if I'll do chicken tacos tonight, or chicken chow mien.....leaning towards chow mien.....from what I can read I guess I'll just leave Mountain Lion and iOS6 alone.....don't think they'd be worth the hassle for me.....things are working well operating system wise   right now.....nothing in the mail but the constantly repeated Charter Cable offer, get at least one of those a week.....they don't have what I want, not for that price.....so is this the last day of Summer?  something like that.....remains good sleeping weather anyway lately.....maybe I'll make a couple of rolled tacos for lunch today, instead of the usual sandwich.....will probably be lots of cars tomorrow morning....Furman is playing PC at noon in football....they moved the time from 2 to 12 for a TV slot on some funky sports network.....but they didn't decide that until yesterday....I wonder how many fans will show up at half-time or later?

Thursday, September 20, 2012

55F at dawn

clear, some wind.....finished off the pork roast platters.....used up the potatoes and gravy, so now the leftover roast can go into tacos.....lunch continues with grilled spam and swiss melts.....snack mix for the week is antioxidant trail mix mixed with last week's generic chex mix.....one of the two avocados should be ripe enough today for the taco and pinto platter.....I cut the grass out front yesterday in the afternoon, since it was cloudy and cool enough to do that....maybe I'll do the back Friday.....it's getting pretty cool at night now.....and it stays comfortable in the house all day with a couple of windows open and ceiling fans not needed really.....so I guess it's time to go for a walk, and then sit out front and eat an apple....another day.....

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Clear, windy, 70F

I did the grocery shopping, walked around the park, read the papers, etc....chicken breasts were really cheap so I got some of them.....and tortillas and some salsa and a couple of avocados and another sweet onion....so I can fix pork tacos and chicken tacos this week....also got more noodles to do pork and chicken stir fry if I want.....well, not pork and chicken together....two separate meals I guess....or you could have two meats in a stir fry I suppose.....also got pinto beans....I have stir fry vegetables in the freezer still......I need to get a new smoke detector, the old one went crazy....I'll look at the dollar store maybe, instead of driving to Walmart for one thing....going to do that right now I suppose.....more rye bread and Swiss cheese this week.....got a new box of California burgundy....don't know where this month went so fast....well it ain't over yet, but almost....

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

judging from the size of the puddles

it must have rained considerable last night.....no thunder woke me up though, went to bed at 10 and slept pretty well.....nice and cool in the house....the pork roast redux worked well, maybe I'll make carnitas tacos with some of it.....or bbq pork.....had it with potatoes, peas, and gravy last night....it's starting to rain again right now....it stopped raining long enough for me to walk for the paper....that's when I checked out the puddles.....on the radar it looks like more wet on the way today for sure.....I need to get butter, bread, and orange juice on shopping day....and wine also.....and maybe small corn tortillas and avocado to make pork street tacos.....get a can of pintos, and another onion.....well, that's not 'til tomorrow.....

Monday, September 17, 2012

right when I was starting breakfast

it started raining.....but a half hour later it had moved off to the north and east, so I walked to get the paper in fog and mist, but no rain. While I was reading the paper it started raining again, but I bet I can walk around the park pretty soon in another break in the weather.....I got the other half of the pork loin roast out of the freezer, so I can cook that this afternoon....still have two potatoes left to go with that.....the Panthers won, and the 49ers also.....I didn't watch all the San Francisco game, went to bed at 10 when the half-time stuff started.....next Monday is the first of October.....this coming Saturday is Fall.....and this week is predicted to be quite a bit cooler, and rainy.....today and Tuesday anyway....so I can just leave yard-work alone if it's wet outside, that's a good excuse.....

Sunday, September 16, 2012

fell asleep

while the Braves were on....they ended up winning with a bases loaded hit batter? So I was rested up for the Stanford game, which became interesting.....so it was after 11:30 before I got to bed.....so I slept pretty well 'til 6:30 in the morning.....I think they said that the star receiver for Stanford went to Monte Vista .....might be wrong about that.....Blue Hosers lost 58-0 to Vanderbilt.....cloudy this morning.....had Bacon Spam fried up with my rye bread french toast at breakfast.....finished up the potatoes and gravy yesterday evening, so today I might use up the rest of that can of corned beef hash with an egg over easy and grits, or something like that....still have cold pork roast for a lunch sandwich.....there's Saints-Panthers on in the afternoon if I want to bother with the lousy Panthers again.....and 49ers vs. somebody or other for the night game....so it's a dead quiet Sunday morning as usual.....there's hardly anything in the trash can, but I guess it's not that much trouble to go ahead and wheel it to the curb sometime today....if I remember later.....

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Laurens and Clinton both lost their games

under the Friday night lights.....when I went for the paper there was a guy at the gas station with Clemson flags on his car loading a cooler with ice.....must be going tail-gateing at the Furman-Clemson game.....the Nationals are at the Braves on Fox this afternoon.....and after that they have USC and Stanford.....don't see many west coast games like that here on local TV.....mild weather continues, with rain predicted for Monday night.....had a french bread pizza and a green salad for supper yesterday.....today I guess I'll have a plate of pork roast dinner heated up....working in the yard the last couple of days I haven't been getting my park walk done, so I'll go do that now....

Friday, September 14, 2012

enough

enough yard work for this week...my back is going to be aching.....did battle this morning with the north-west corner of the property.....it's a jungle out there.....the hedge trimmer works pretty neat, slashing through the tangle of vines and creepers or whatever those things are.....but there's too much to do all at once, I've let it go for too long....looks better though, and the pile at the curb is getting higher.....so that involved a Walmart trip, nice morning for a drive.....had grilled Spam and swiss on rye with Fritos for lunch.....tonight maybe I'll keep eating the delicious pork roast, or maybe I'll think of something else to fix, for the sake of variety....another day that will probably stay in the 70s, with some clouds coming and going with the wind, otherwise late Summer blue skies.....it's been getting cool enough at night to sleep with the comforter, maybe as it gets colder I'll try one of those fluffy duvet things....they have them out at Walmart.....well, so much for Friday morning....

Thursday, September 13, 2012

north side of the house

the shrubs along the fence line....I attacked those this morning with the pruning shears and the electric pole saw.....put a fairly large pile of trimmings out for next week at the curb.....got a couple of scratches and cuts messing with it all.....vines with thorns are entangled in that mess.....I should just go get that hedge trimmer I was looking at once at Walmart, and attack it all again shortly.....no rain in the forecast, but it's a cloudy and cool morning that might as well be a rainy day.....good for yard work, not too much sweat.....I'm glad I've got that shed out back, it makes it easy to organize the tools.....everything easily at hand when I need something.....the pork roast last night was excellent.....fork tender meat, browned potato wedges, the apple reduced to a sauce on top of the roast, tender peas....made a rich brown gravy....put some bitters in that, a gravy secret.....and there's plenty left.....I put the whole boneless loin in the pan and it looked huge....so I cut it in half, cooked half and put half in the freezer....probably have cold pork roast on rye toast with pickles, lettuce, mayo for lunch.....and microwave another plate like last night for tonight.....finished one library book already, it was a good one, and the author has written a bunch of books so I'll look for more .....still have some scifi on kindle too that I can look at.....

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

boneless pork loin roast

in the big iron skillet with red potatoes and green apple wedges....some ginger and cinnamon rub.....a slow oven at 325 'til it's tender.....that's the plan for today....they had a special on pork loin at the store this morning....I'll be eating that for a number of days this week....also got those french bread pizzas I like on sale ....and rye bread and bacon Spam for sandwiches.....went walking after I got back from the store, and then went through the Clinton newspaper for the week.....had the last of the cube steak fried up for lunch on rye with pickle and lettuce, mayo.....so it's rye bread this week.....the weather is splendid again today, 70s and mostly blue sky, just some scattered clouds.....so an OK day for running the oven, just turn the ceiling fan on in the kitchen and it won't heat up much.....nothing in the mail but the gas bill, I'll have to look at that in a minute, go ahead and schedule a pay.....so Summer is winding down, soon the leaves will start turning....the colorful season....Red Devils play Byrnes, which is ranked #4 in the nation this Friday....yikes....

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

clouded over

so I'm going to go cut the grass out back here in a few minutes, before the sun burns through I hope......had a salad last night, a meatless meal....unusual for me.....might have grilled cheese for lunch.....might stay in the 70s today, barely got to 80 yesterday.....well, I guess I'll just get started on that yard work.....

Monday, September 10, 2012

Didn't make it to the library yet

You can renew books online....so I did that while waiting for AAA to come tow the Jeep the two blocks to the garage.....starter went out.....Carolina Automotive says they'll have it done in a little bit, $175 total for a new starter installed....maybe I will get to the library today after all, though I don't have to now.....its good having a garage you can walk to, and free towing with the auto club card....it's always something, isn't it?

54F this morning

but no wind like yesterday's, so the walk was crisp but not chilly.....saw a guy at the gas station where I get my paper who used to be there every morning looking for odd jobs, but I hadn't seen him for most of the Summer....he said his artificial knee joint had become infected so for a couple of months he had to go to the hospital every day for an anti-biotic drip.....sounds like a bummer....he was going to try to do some work today.....a couple of different painting crews are there in the morning getting drinks and ice.....and some yard work outfits.....the guy I'm talking about does small carpentry jobs too, and roof patching, etc....otherwise he survives on Social Security.....you can see the same folks there at that time of morning year round....one painting crew never seems to take a day off....they are even there on Sundays sometimes....I watched the Denver game 'til half-time, and then went to bed.....slept well with the cool dry air in the room....now I'll go to the library, and later I need to pick up some fallen branches off the pecan trees out back....take that debris to the curb and they pick it up on Tuesdays....the strong wind the other day blew some dead stuff down.....one day soon I need to cut the grass out back too....and trim some bushes.....been putting that off, but now that it's cooler I should get busy cleaning things up....

Sunday, September 9, 2012

definite change in the weather

64 with a north wind this morning....predicted cooler and dry all week.....did rain some Saturday afternoon, but nothing on the radar near here now.....watched football during the afternoon, and some more again after supper.....but got tired of that and turned it off and read some until pretty late.....was feeling a little hungry before going to bed so I had peanut butter and pimento cheese on 12 grain toast sandwich.....a half-sandwich, just one slice of bread.....supper was a single serving batch of beef and veggie chow mien, garnished with fresh chopped scallion....or "pencil onions" as they are advertised around here sometimes.....wild onions grow as weeds on empty lots, so when the City mows the weeds every once in a while you can smell the pungent aroma of chopped wild scallions.....Carolina plays Tampa Bay at four, and then it's Bronco-Steelers for Sunday Night Football....last week I went to bed at half-time.....probably do the same tonight.....Sunday lunch might be cube steak swiss melt, supper of corned beef hash and egg over easy, with cajun hot sauce.....

Saturday, September 8, 2012

Laurens beat Clinton 46-16

I think I get channel 62 usually, so maybe I can watch the Gamecocks and East Carolina this afternoon.....if there's a thunderstorm it might mess up the reception.....and Nebraska and UCLA are on at night on 21......so I had that steak taco salad last night, and saved a few steak tips for a stir fry tonight.....I might make a cube steak and avocado sandwich for lunch.....70 and broken clouds for the early walk.....should stay around mid 80s this afternoon, and the cold front sweeping the nation should move in here Sunday, so next week will be "a touch of Autumn"....according to the local forecaster on the evening news.....I can live with that....I've got library books to finish by Monday.....when I talked to cousin Emily a week ago Friday she said that she is now at the Laurens main library, with more regular hours what with the baby boy to take care of and all....maybe I'll go over there sometime and see if there's more scifi on the shelves than in our little Clinton branch.....it's a pretty big library over there....

Friday, September 7, 2012

cooler, lots of fog

but today will end up hotter than yesterday, is what they are saying....last night at eight a thunderstorm came through, and after that it rained on and off most the night....right now it's sort of a dripping mist outside.....guess it's OK for walking .....the first walk went well with the new boots, they come with their own insoles so maybe I won't get any Dr. Scholl's for them....wait and see....they look spiffy anyway......I can put some avocado in a chicken salad sandwich for lunch.....last night was an iron skillet meal.....breaded cube steak, hash-browns, green beans all done in the same pan.....tonight can be a steak salad again.....Laurens is at Clinton for the county bragging rights football game of 2012....the 87th match-up of that series.....I don't think rain is predicted for that, but it's back to a 70% chance on Saturday.....nothing in the mail yesterday....the day before just somebody wanting to loan me $6000.....

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Some thoughts on boots

At Walmart I found some Brahma boots I think will work for a while anyway.....service boots...shiny black security guard boots.....hard surface boots, not hiking boots meant for a dirt path.....the soles go out well beyond the sides of your feet....greater lateral stability.....Goodyear welt soles.....sprayed them with Camp Dry and put a bead of Shoe Goo on the left toe where it always wears on my footgear....substantial and comfortable, at first impression.....the trouble with most light walking shoes is that they tend to roll over on me.....not much lateral stability.....the podiatrist I went to years ago said to wear light boots with a heel for my particular foot situation....that's what these are I would say.....

72 and clouded over

when I got back to the house with the newspaper....so I decided to go ahead and trim and mow out front while it was cool enough.....but I still got sweated up enough to need a shower when I got back inside around 9.....and I put a load in the washer too....and then read the paper finally....after lunch I'm thinking of going over to Walmart to look at shoes....I keep wearing them out....holes in the soles after after six months or so.....shoddy goods, or just what happens walking an hour every day? it's my odd gait really, the left leg with poor enervation drags, and weight shifted to the right foot pounds that heel and ankle.....Shoe Goo will only do so much....pretty soon I can go back to the Wolverine Wellingtons, but cowboy boots look funny with shorts....at least to me.....you do see that around here sometimes though.....lunch can be avocado burger.....the taco salad ended up large and hearty, plenty to eat....tender steak tips, just ripe avocado, etc....this evening chicken fried steak I think, no gravy....still be too muggy for a gravy meal I imagine.....

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Grocery day

No rain so far today, plenty last night.....same temp and humidity as the last week or so.....got my shopping, walking, and newspaper reading done this morning.....the menu will feature taco salad this week, so I got steak tips, more olives, tortilla chips, scallions, ranch dressing, etc...for that....and I got some cubed steaks to have with taters and green beans I suppose....got a can of corned beef hash, thinking of a Sunday breakfast for supper deal....NFL game on tonight, first regular season game I think.....still have a couple of hamburgers left, and some chicken salad for lunches....will probably also have chicken fried steak sandwich for lunch a couple times.....it's staying pretty well clouded over so far today, didn't get too steamy walking.....

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

at four in the morning

it started raining real hard....woke me up but I got back to sleep again....80% chance of more rain today.....clouded over, muggy, in the 70s in the morning.....I'll look at the radar before I decide when to walk again, wet weather is still moving up randomly from the south and west of here....the holiday burgers and beer weekend is in the past.....the mail today will probably bring the grocery ads, so I can try to figure some budget eats for another week.....if the avocados look good this time maybe I'll do taco salad for one thing.....I've still got chicken salad for lunch sandwiches.....had the poached egg on 12 grain toast for breakfast.....

Monday, September 3, 2012

same temp and humidity

when I went to bed as when I got out of bed.....remains of Isaac lingering, plus a cold front from the north expected today.... for Labor Day events they are saying to bring an umbrella.....storm went through here late Sunday afternoon, but not very much rain, just lots of clouds and wind to cool things down some, so I didn't have to use the AC at all....finished off the stir fry.....have hamburgers for today.....clouds and rain might not break up until Thursday....ok with me, that's better than a return to steam heat.....so there was no traffic out on the streets this holiday morning, and no sound outside except a couple of birds chirping.....small town living at it's finest....

Sunday, September 2, 2012

was around 100 heat index

by late afternoon Saturday....so I closed up the house and turned on the AC.....it really does help when some of the humidity gets conditioned out of the air.....watched some baseball, and then some football....but went to bed around 10 with the football still going.....locally, the Hose won their game 45-10.....returned the opening kick-off of the season for a touchdown....a good omen? The Sunday paper was thick with ads.....am I expected to go out Monday and spend money to save the economy? Can't think of anything I need at the moment....but looks like all the stores will be open on the holiday in case I think of something.....the Walmart ad featured DVDs to buy....do people still buy those? I never saw much sense in wanting to own a copy of a movie....why watch a movie more than once? Did you forget what happened? Used the last of the rye bread for french toast at breakfast, so lunch can be curried chicken salad on 12 grain toast....I can't list the 12 grains from memory I'm afraid....some of those grains are really obscure things I've never heard of before.....supper can be either leftover stir fry, or a cheeseburger platter with slaw and chips.....I hope some rain pops up this afternoon to cool things off a bit, or I'll have to resort to AC again by 3 or 4 pm......

Saturday, September 1, 2012

a crowd in town

lots of cars, busy at the grocery store....even a line at the self-check.....must be the Division One football game in a couple hours....Brevard at the Hose.....I went to get bread 'cause I was down to two slices, but decided to get some beer too when I noticed Bi-Lo had Yuengling on the cold shelf now.....they didn't used to have it.....so I got 12 cold bottles of their Black & Tan.....good stuff....it's been years since I bought a 12 pak of beer.....but it's a steamy holiday weekend with hamburgers on the menu at some point so beer will work.....might have to turn on the AC this afternoon with a high-90s heat index called for.....Braves are on in the afternoon, and there's some football game in the evening....
