by 8:45 this morning

I was finished with anything physical for the day.....after I walked for the paper I went right out and cut the weeds out front....'cause there was a cloud over the sun and a little breeze....figured it might be the best chance in this heat-wave to get that done.....it was around 80 by the time I finished....the heat yesterday was kick-butt, and today will be much the same ......pity those who do not have central air.....the pasta salad came out tasty enough, and filling....leftovers of that.....but today can be steak and white corn and a green salad for supper.....the baseball game this evening on Fox is Mets at Dodgers, I always like seeing Dodger Stadium.....I remember from this one crash-pad on Mt. Washington we could see the lights of Chavez Ravine over across the train tracks and the freeway.....heat and ozone warnings today in the Upstate, no rain in sight.....will somebody start a blaze somewhere with fireworks? ....probably, that's what usually happens.....

88F at ten in the morning

but there's a breeze NE at 4 mph.....so it feels not bad sitting in the shade.....but if you try going out in the direct sun you heat up pretty quick.....so this is an official lazy day of Summer as far as I'm concerned....another one.....they predict the record high for the date will be broken later on....nothing in the mail but something from the cable company....went into the trash unopened....it's staying 70 in the house so far.....I'll use the bit of steak leftover from last night to make a sandwich for lunch.....and sometime early afternoon I'll mix up the pasta salad I was thinking about and put it in the fridge to cool for suppertime......I guess this is the default 4th of July weekend coming up the next two days.....community celebrations, some fireworks Saturday.....and in Laurens Tuesday night.....and at the lake on the actual 4th.....Lake Greenwood.....I'll just stay home and watch what the neighborhoods are shooting off, usually that's plenty.....maybe I'll buy some hamburger fixings before Wednesday.....

Stand by me

That's what the Motown band was playing as the train came blowing past .....maybe twenty minutes ago while I was sitting out on the porch....I didn't walk over there for the dance and all....too hot....been inside mostly after supper with the AC on.....wasn't playing the stereo or tv so the dance music thumping has been in the background while I was reading.....steak and shrimp and salad made a lot of supper....I didn't eat it all....will use a little piece of the steak in a sandwich for a lunch.....waste not want not......I should of got more tonic water while I was in Walmart....they have the best price...but I forgot....well, tonight will be a night for the ceiling fan on....any work outside will have to wait until this heat wave passes.....

shopping trip, housework

so far this morning.....they didn't have Blue Goo in the shelf at Walmart....maybe they have it at CVS, I'll look next time I'm over there.....I do have Max Freeze on hand.....that will have to do for now.....they did have the large mouthwash bottles out this time, which makes their stuff about half the price of the national brand.....and they did have the 5 litre Merlot in stock today....didn't last time I was over there.....so sweep, mop, vacuum.....stay in the house now, where it remains cool enough.....going to get into the 90s in the afternoon.....today I'll have steak-and-shrimp supper, with a green salad....I have that cocktail sauce for the shrimp ....and I'll pound the steak with diced garlic.....the record breaking heat wave from the Midwest is coming here Friday, they say.....

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

106F by Sunday?

that's what some folks predict.....so maybe that day I'll make a pasta salad, with shells and olives....on a bed of red-leaf lettuce....I also got steak and shrimp and chili and parmesan chicken fixings on my grocery trip....another fine mild day here....not as windy as yesterday, but still cool enough to walk without getting heated up too much.....might make a spam salad sandwich for lunch....Thursday I'll do a Walmart run, for what is cheaper over there.....like wine, mouthwash, fish oil capsules.....we'll see if there's anything else.....great sleeping weather, low humidity and got down to 55 overnight.....

Aunt Addie report

I stopped and got a little thing of flowers and then went to find Aunt Addie at the NHC.....I was going towards her room when I saw her in the PT.....so I talked to her a bit there but it was too noisy so we went to her room and visited for maybe two hours.....her mental state seemed pretty lucid to me.....but from experience I know there are good days and bad days for old folks....when I was ready to leave, she got up from the wheelchair and asked for her walker.....I thought maybe she was headed to the bathroom, but she went out into the hall and took off towards the desk....I went along with her, not knowing that she wasn't supposed to be walking without a PT with her.....but they caught us and told her she would have to go back to her room....she allowed as how she had been trying to just sneak out of the place with me.....that bit of Tingle behavior reminded me of WB doing the exact same thing when he was in for his second stent.....

wind woke me up

in the middle of the night....and there was a brief splatter of rain.....but more wind dried any trace of that up by dawn....wind still blowing.....so I got the yard work done without too much sweat, since the wind kept blowing it away.....then I read the paper, etc.....finished up the sausage and shells last night, so I've got some chicken and some squash in Italian sauce left for today I suppose.....I guess Aunt Addie is still in the nursing home over near the grocery store....I think I'll go and see, this might be a good time of morning for that......watched some strange Burt Reynolds movie last night, since it was from 1969 it had the obligatory spaced-out hippie chick in it.....for no apparent plot reason other than to have a hippie-chick in the cast.....movies from that era are always a hoot.....didn't sit out on the porch late last night very long....too muggy and buggy.....but the wind today is blowing that stuff away.....might be 100 by the weekend....who knows where Debby is going, it's wait and see......

Monday, June 25, 2012

yard work?

I guess I'll leave yard work 'til tomorrow....there's supposed to be a north wind Tuesday morning.....not much wind and lots of humidity right now.....sweaty morning in other words....some high clouds seem to be from Debby south and east of here......but a cold front is predicted to hold hurricane rain away from the Upstate.....I finished a library book last night.....and I caught the end of England-Italy Euro 2012 on BBC Four.....a penalty kick shoot-out.....and I watched a thing about riding the Alaskan Railroad....nice scenery.....around 80 again at bedtime, 10:30 or so.....ran the ceiling fan in the bedroom.....I'm going to go for a walk and then go over to the gas station and get a bag of ice.....

Sunday, June 24, 2012

movement NE at 5 mph

as I see the map, that means it's moving in this direction....tropical storm Debby, now down in Florida and Georgia....and one thing I read said that with this class of storm over land as it is then tornadoes might be spawned that are "short-lived but violent".....so short lived there is no radar warning....so you should "watch the sky".....great.....it's too sticky outside to sit on the porch and watch the sky.....got the house closed up and the AC poised to come on if it gets much over 80 inside.....just been reading and listening to the stereo after lunch....some models show the storm going in a different direction, or just spinning around where it is now.....8% of Gulf oil production has ceased, as platforms are abandoned.....but it's not expected to effect the price of gas much....I saw a cash-only station the other day at $2.95.....somebody said they had seen $2.88.....the dew point is 73, which means you sweat just sitting still.....but now the air just clicked on, so it will get drier feeling inside anyway.....

fogged in

and the fog blanket holds the warmth, so it was 70 this morning instead of 60-something like earlier in the week.....last night around 7 it started raining and kept coming down for maybe a half hour.....I started watching the Braves game but didn't make it all the way through, went on to bed about 10.....they were getting beat 8 to 4, and that's how it ended up.....so I didn't miss much anyway.....had a bowl of curry and a bowl of spinach greens for Saturday supper.....this evening I can have a bowl of sausage and shells, and more greens.....40% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.....a tropical storm might be brewing up down in the Gulf, so maybe heavier rains are on the way in a few days.....

Summer floods

In Yorkshire, where the Tingles are from? On BBC they are showing all this countryside under water......I'm watching this because roku/nowheretv is now carrying BBC one, two, three, and four......so now I can see today's shows from the other side of the pond.....in real time.....so I can pretend I'm in London.....or York , or whatever......not strange Brit TV from past decades, but from right now.....

looks like a yard sale

being set up early this morning over by the Curb Market....I'll walk over that way in a while and take a look.....cooked the chicken leg quarter last night, with some zucchini in Italian sauce as the side....ran the air some after supper again, the heat builds up as the sun starts going down.....well, that's when it hits the western facing living room window I guess.....mostly yesterday there was enough breeze outside to keep things comfortable.....it was real nice out about ten again at night....people out walking around when it's cooler......there's a Braves game on TV this evening, I'll watch that I suppose.....Gamecocks are in the college world series finals again....they were down a run when I went to bed, but they won the game on a bases loaded walk, so they advance to play Arizona.....

Friday, June 22, 2012

the sausage pasta supper

this is delicious stuff, plenty left-over.....and there's plenty of spinach left for more salad sides...which are a good thing in hot weather.....I used the cheapest can of sauce on the shelf....a buck for Del-Monte Green Pepper and Mushroom....cheap is good, often the best.....put some parmesan-romono in there too, some olive oil, etc.....watched the Classic Albums of Aja by Steely Dan last night, so later when I turn on the stereo I can play Steely Dan for hours through mog/roku.....yesterday I played Faces......paid the DSL bill a few minutes ago for another month.....the check to Allstate went through looks like.....cut the grass out front when I got back with the paper.....there was some breeze, but still ended up sweat-soaked.....don't know when I'll get the rest done.....might rain tonight.....Italian sausage sandwiches for lunch for a few days maybe.....half a sausage, one slice of bread....some Fritos, glass of cabernet.....94F predicted this afternoon late.....

Thursday, June 21, 2012

the hot curry supper

had me sweating as I watched the news, so I went ahead and closed up the house and turned on the central air.....it works.....so it was nice and cool for sleeping later.....it was still about 80 outside after 10 at night.....got down to 68 by dawn today....some breeze, but high humidity still, so I'm wondering about a walk right now.....might as well go for it.....sweat is good for you? This afternoon I'll fix pasta supper, the sausage and shells.....I put a lot of curry in the curry.....google curry health benefits......it clears the plaque out of your brain, so you don't go senile....one guy in Wales says that if you've been out drinking and drank too much, some hot curry will cure or prevent a hangover.....hardly any senility in India?

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

getting muggy

in the afternoon, broken clouds and a breeze that helps some....it's OK sitting in the shade, but I wouldn't want to be out walking in the sun.....I think the weatherman said that the actual solstice is around seven-thirty this evening.....so is it Summer at the moment or not? First partial day of Summer maybe......this kind of day is almost too lanquid to even stay awake reading a book.....listening to music is about all you have the energy for.....a bowl of curry sounds good for today.....they eat curry in hot climes don't they?

imported sea shells

had an Italian sausage sandwich for lunch, with mustard and pickle chips.....the sausage was on sale so I got the idea of making Aunt Betty style pasta.....and the only large shells on the shelf were "sea shells".....product of Italy, it says on the bag....so some suppers this week will be sausage and shells .....bought garlic too....today I'm going to do pork rice curry, with chopped up celery and carrots in it....and onion and garlic.....I bought brown rice.....and a bag of fresh spinach for salad with pasta....for $1.13 I also got a seasoned chicken leg quarter that can be for a supper too....sounds like plenty of meals for a week....the curry and the pasta will make leftovers I'm sure....got pretty sweaty on the second walk, after unloading the groceries....read the Wednesday paper.....got T.Rex on the stereo.....got plenty to read .....got some odd 1950s sci-fi on the kindle....

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Breakfast for supper

After the giant burger
lunch, I didn't feel like a heavy supper in this warm weather, so I just fixed buttery toast with marmalade, egg over easy with Cajun hot sauce, and two sausage links.....oh cool, the city is mowing down the weeds at the burnt house.....about time......buttery toast is when you put the butter on before you toast it.....need a horizontal toaster, don't think it would work as well vertical......

taking care of business

swept and vacuumed and went to Allstate .....got my premium down a little bit by changing the deductible.....and got the coverage raised to reflect the estimated cost of replacing the house if a tornado blows it away.....and went to lunch at Whiteford's .....the sign was advertising $2 Giant Burgers.....I think they are usually $3.50.....and I got their really good onion rings and sweet tea....so now I'm stuffed.....so I've done my walking for the day too.....it's staying cool in the house this morning, but by 4 or so this afternoon it might get hot and humid enough to need the AC on....90s predicted over the next few days.....I made pork shoulder chili last night, with onion and sharp cheese on top, over Fritos.....today I can finish up the pork somehow, and go shopping in the morning for another week's worth......might look at the catfish fillets.....

Monday, June 18, 2012

going to get hotter

during the week they say.....but Monday morning is still cool....63 on the walk....I had a chicken pot pie for Sunday supper, that's easy.....got some reading done yesterday, between naps.....used mog/roku to listen to the new Crazy Horse and the new Beach Boys albums.....and Roger Mayer's latest too.....played some Easybeats ......played bottleneck 12 string for a while.....a day just like any other day? Well, I'm going to go on the park walk, and then go to Walmart maybe....

Sunday, June 17, 2012

fathers day?

and Summer starts Wednesday, I believe.....nice mild conditions continue, clear and cool.....ran over to the store for a few things....ice, paper towels, ginger ale.....and french onion dip because I still have that bag of celery and carrot sticks but I threw out the week old spinach dip....I coulda got butter and peanut butter too, but didn't think of those while I was over there....they can wait 'til the regular shopping on Wednesday.....SS should be in the bank by then.....so that baseball game went pretty fast, a one hit shut-out of the Braves by Baltimore.......it was clear enough last night to see more stars than you usually see from here, out on the porch close to 11.....I can look at the sport section and see if any game is on today on the stations I get....probably just be golf.....

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Really scary books

The Imperial Cruise by James Bradley.....and Amped by Daniel H. Wilson.....

even cooler

this morning.....59F on my early walk.....but no wind, so it was pleasant enough.....the usual dead Saturday morning, hardly anything moving.....finished up the rib-eye yesterday with white corn and pintos as the veggie sides.....so tonight I'll cut up another country rib for curried pork again, that worked the other day.....didn't watch any TV after the news last night, just sat out on the porch some, and then read until bedtime.....these cool nights are good for sleeping.....and the humidity is lower too, not as sticky seeming.....the air has been moving down the Atlantic coast for a couple days now, instead of up from the Gulf over the swamps in the normal pattern for this time of year.....some places were getting rain last night, but not near here.....there's a Braves game on Fox tonight, maybe I can stay awake through that....

Friday, June 15, 2012

more north wind

keeping it cooler.....66F, 88% humidity.....no rain predicted....they had a good crowd over at the street dance, I stayed about an hour.....this band played some of the same songs as the last band...."beach music" standards I guess.....and a lot of the songs are what you'd expect from any bar band playing music to dance to.....think 50s and 60s jukebox......the free BBQ sandwich was alright, sort of dry, but they did have sauce you could squirt on.....I had already had supper anyway, just wanted to see what their smoked pork was like....you could hear music 'til almost ten.....I stayed up late finishing a library book, and slept OK I guess.....I need to get a battery for the kitchen smoke detector, 'cause it's started doing that thing where it peeps every few minutes, to drive you nuts until you put in a fresh 9 volt.....it's disassembled on the kitchen table right now....that made it shut up.....I can have steak dinner tonight I guess.....some day I should wash the car.....

Thursday, June 14, 2012

done out back

got the grass cut, clouded over and a good breeze so it didn't get all that hot working on it....just started burning off as I finished....last night sitting out on the porch late you could see clouds flashing inside with heat lightning.....but the thunder seemed very far away, and no rain here.....since it's predicted to be dry today, it looks like they are making an effort to get some concrete and asphalt work done finally on those new parking lots....a couple of weeks of rain must have messed them up some....only mail yesterday was the gas bill, and I paid that this morning....the curried chicken salad does make a tasty sandwich, today I might try adding a few bread-and- butter pickle chips.....for supper I can do country style rib, sauteed squash slices, and beans.....I've eaten up a lot of Caroline's dip, but it's probably time to throw out what's left....sometime soon I should walk the couple blocks over to Allstate, and talk to them about homeowner's ......

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

muggy as heck

out doing the front yard after getting the groceries done first.....was raining when I went to bed around 10:30.....no rain at daybreak, just areas of fog and low overcast....a little breeze.....75F now with hazy sunshine.....I think I remembered everything I wanted to get at the store....I got some deli chicken salad that I'm going put some curry powder in....for lunch sandwiches on wheat-berry bread.....and I got a piece of rib-eye.....and some country ribs.....so maybe half the steak, ear of white corn, and some fried taters for this evening.....right now I can sit down under the ceiling fan and read the weekly paper, see what's shakin' in Clinton maybe....if anything.....I think there might be a band tomorrow night on the square.....

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

when I woke up

it was raining, and still dripping after breakfast so no early walk today.....still some drizzle now....but this morning's paper says most of the rain event is missing the Upstate, so predictions are downgraded as far as how many inches we'll get out of this.....still too soaked to cut the grass looks like.....maybe by Thursday things will be drier....the grocery ads came a day early.....food for Father's Day is featured.....steak and seafood is what they are pushing....I might go over to Walmart because their ad had denim shorts .....Wrangler brand for $12.....the two old pairs of those I have are pretty ratty looking, torn and stained.....that was in their Father's Day ad.....blue jean shorts are comfortable in sticky weather, to me anyway.....might as well do that, since getting a walk done this morning looks problematic, with the lowering skies.....there was something else I wanted to look for over there, but right now I can't remember what it was.....

Monday, June 11, 2012

a few drops of rain

on the walk for the newspaper.....lots of rain yesterday afternoon and evening.....another storm front heading towards here now.....rain predicted the next few days.....don't know when I'll get any yard work done.....this is helping with the drought anyway.....for supper I made candied carrots with some of the leftover baby carrots from the reunion.....and scalloped potatoes always taste better heated up the second day.....that was the rest of the meal....this morning was back to the usual oatmeal and mug of tea.....I have some spring rolls still in the freezer, maybe for tonight.....I need bread and wine at the store this morning when I'm over that way for the library.....I got something to read on the wet Sunday afternoon from kindle....a new Flashman book, read those years ago much to my amusement.....and watched Lost in Translation before bedtime....storms were messing up the local TV reception, so I watched the 11 o'clock news from London.....it's raining over there too ......flooding in parts of Wales......and the paper this morning reports flooding in the Florida panhandle.....

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Later in the morning

A good steady rain coming down....."The Tubes and similar artists" on the stereo from mog/roku.....looking towards lunch, I can use some of the French bread leftover with the spinach dip and make little spam and dip sandwiches....maybe.....

reunion report

I'm going to need a week of rest to recover from the week of vacation .......all that stomping around in Charleston has my right heel aching....like the old bone spur....or maybe just a bruised heel.....the reunion turned out fine, in my opinion anyway....most of the regulars showed up....plenty of kids there for Colton to play with.....plenty of food....nice weather.....this morning it looks like it could rain any time....70% chance today.....so I have some leftover scalloped potatoes, and carrots and celery with spinach dip that Caroline had fixed....they all should be heading to Greenville soon, to get Brian to the airport around noon.....it will probably stay cooler today, with overcast and showers.....library books are due tomorrow.....and it's time to trim up out front again, maybe on Tuesday I'll get around to that......I forgot to get a loaf of bread while I was in the store yesterday, so I can do that after I go to the library....used the last slice for french toast at breakfast.....

Saturday, June 9, 2012

Hot dish in the oven

Four fairly large red potatoes, half a sweet onion, package of chopped smoked ham, and two jars of creamy Alfredo sauce.....some Parmesan Romano cheese, some black pepper.....potatoes thinly sliced, onion chopped.....350 for an hour ought to do it.....then it will be close to time to head towards Ora.....we did go and get the buffet last night, and then came back to the house .....walked through downtown Clinton briefly....and then waited for the fireflies and bats to come out in the glooming.....they all headed back to the motel around nine....there were plenty of fireflies to see.....mild evening out.....I had poached egg on toast for breakfast, and spam and cheese with pickles and mayo on 12 grain for lunch

Friday, June 8, 2012

beat and out of sync

slept well back in my own bed, did my normal morning routine....and had a second breakfast of pecan waffle and coffee when the family got up and running around nine-thirty....went out and had a good visit to Musgrove battlefield, and Horseshoe Falls.....went to Laurens Square, and I had an excellent chicken salad sandwich at Capital Theatre cafe.....by then it was afternoon....went to Little River Park ......after a while there I was pooped out, so I split from the group (having wisely brought my own vehicle) and at three something I am sitting down in the cool living room....I only got three pieces of mail while I was gone, all ads or solicitations.....filled up the Jeep again....later in the evening when they are ready I guess we are going to Hickory Hills BBQ buffet....the eating continues unabated.....pretty warm and muggy right now.....some clouds rolling over might shower a little, that would be nice......

Thursday, June 7, 2012

no Folly

More rain so we didn't go to the beach, instead took a free tourist tram-bus to the aquarium....after that we got back to the Society House and put on warmer clouthes to go on the schooner in the harbor.....that was a real trip, very enjoyable and as advertised.....a bunch of dark clouds passed over without dumping on us while we were out....there were dolphins......and more views of the city and the forts, etc.....I'll foregoe the food report part, there was just too much food to report.....so by nine-thirty I was back home this morning.....leaving the others to clean up the abused suite of rooms and wend their way to the Upstate as best they can....they have digital devices, they can find the way I'm sure.....I should go to the store and get beverages and snacks or something....and plastic cups maybe.....but right now I don't feel like getting back in the Jeep.....I think it only took about seven gallons on the trip back....I had to drive around in circles to find a gas station in the old part of the city....it's all filled up with food and lodging and tourist shopping .....nothing as prosaic as a gas station....

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Some coastal flooding possible

Started raining at six, and is still raining around eight thirty.....people are getting up....I had an egg poached in grits, and coffee for breakfast.....no telling what lunch will bring, more low country eats I'm sure something good....we will look for Folly Beach in a while, after we all get going later.....

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

too much tourism

and coca-cola cake.....firefly sweet tea vodka too.....fort moultrie, fort sumter, and the yorktown were lots of fun, but the whole day about wore us out....except for colton, who is always full of beans....italian sausage dog with sauteed peppers and onions for lunch, meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy for supper....with coke cake dessert.....cola cake dates from ww2, when sugar was rationed, so they used coke as a sweetener.....the soul food place we went to around five had a line out the door and down the street by six....we hit it right.....we had a cloudburst as we were leaving the yorktown gift shop, where I think I found the cap Nick wants.....I'll mail it to him I guess? They didn't have any captains caps left in adult sizes though, so I didn't get the one I was looking for.....tomorrow we will try to do Folly Beach and the schooner harbor cruise.....

today we will go over the bridge

to Sullivan's Island and see the historical stuff like the Yorktown, and the forts....and maybe go to a beach......so we are sitting around punching iphones and ipads trying to figure a workable schedule to see the sights.....and waiting for Colton to wake up still.....it's not raining this morning like yesterday morning......the weather is a little sticky, but no terrible heat.......

Monday, June 4, 2012

bayside lunch

I had a shrimp platter with fries and slaw....and one hushpuppy....and they have peach firefly sweet tea vodka martinis.....we got a little wet walking back....we are researching places to tour next....if we work up the energy we might head out somewhere again this afternoon.....maybe the rain won't start up again....

charleston day one

it started to rain as I was loading the Jeep around five in the morning, and I drove through thunderstorms all the way to the coast......the suite is nice here in downtown, close to the College of Charleston......we are just sitting around now, but later we are going to look at the old market etc.....I haven't gone to look at the bedroom yet....should do that.....

Sunday, June 3, 2012

one last cleaning blitz

this Sunday morning.....now it it will just stay clean until I leave tomorrow it should be fairly decent looking when the family gets here.....sometime Thursday afternoon? got some things washing on the porch.....got the air mattress stuffed in the larger cooler and that's in the back of the Jeep.....watched the Tigers and Yankees last night, it was a good game so I stayed up late to watch how it ended....Yankees got beat so it was worth it.....my neighbors over the back fence must have gone to the beach or where-ever, dogs and all....been a very quiet weekend .....I didn't feel like steak dinner yesterday, so I just microwaved some Lean Cuisene garlic chicken spring rolls....those are good, half a box of them left.....the weather is mild here....not too hot or too cold, just about right to me.....and it should be similar down on the coast according to the forecasts.....I guess it's good that I'm driving on the 4th, not the 5th.....because I saw a little article about "hurricane lane reversal drill" on the 5th.....sounds like while that is on all lanes on the interstate go away from the shore.....don't know how that will affect us tourists in the historic quarter, or whatever it's called....hopefully they don't chase you out for a pretend hurricane.....naw, the merchants wouldn't let them do that I don't suppose.....

Saturday, June 2, 2012

new ear buds

seem to do the job OK.....the last ear buds I had came free in a pack of AA cells....didn't last long...perhaps were not of the highest quality to begin with....you get what you pay for, etc....so Sobes were a buck each, so I got some of those....and I got 2 boxes of ten granola bars each for $4.....I can bring little green apples too....I guess in an hour we will Go To Meeting.....Dan phoned while I was out on the front porch.....he was walking the dog at the beach he said.....

cooler

cooler today, mid-50s this morning.....high of 77 called for.....and cooler predictions for the coast...last week I read mid-90s for Charleston this coming week, but today's paper has mid-80s shown for Monday and Tuesday in the Grand Strand Forecast.....I woke up thinking it was Sunday, but it's only Saturday so I still have plenty of time to finish organizing myself enough to actually go out and do something beyond my normal routine.....drive to Charleston and deal with a short period of city life....I'll make a trip to the store and get drinks and power bars for in the car.....and batteries.....I got some ear-buds at the gas station this morning when I got the paper, the only headphones I could find in the house have a short in the left side now, that comes and goes.....looks like all I need to take will go in my old overnight bag OK, enough for three nights away from home.....not much traffic out on Broad St. when I went over that way.....got some cash out of the ATM when I walked by the bank.....had a slaw burger for lunch yesterday, that worked...

Friday, June 1, 2012

some overnight rain

chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.....nice breeze this morning, but humid still....steak dinner last night was good, lots of fries.....been a while since I made those.....I'm going to go for a walk and then start getting my packing organized for the trip.....clean up stuff in the bedroom too, like put blankets away somewhere besides the floor.....I guess I'll leave fairly early Monday morning, and get to Charleston like between 8 and 9.....it's a 3 hour drive they say .....
